*I* am not trying to persuade him to cancel. I am appealing to a higher authority with the ability to do so.
If the Professor says class is as scheduled, I will attend. If he thinks otherwise, there will be a study session in a location yet to be determined. Possibly with pizza, because if we're going to cut class, really, it should be done with pizza and soda.
